Hello and welcome! My name is Steph, I have worked for the past 13 years in community mental health serving folks in Vancouver who have been diagnosed with various psychiatric and mood conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. In addition to offering therapeutic counselling services, I also work part-time with a local community health center offering support to elders and their families to connect with home support health care, community resources, assisted living, and long-term care. I have a bachelor’s and master’s in social work and have additional training certificates in the areas of mental health, grief and loss, and suicide prevention.
My approach to practice is fundamentally strengths-based, trauma-informed, and deeply rooted in relationships and trust. My goal in our sessions together is to offer an environment of safety where you feel supported. I work to explore your experiences, thoughts, feelings, and reflections in a way that is meaningful to you and contributes positively towards a holistic sense of balance, deeper self-compassion and understanding. I’m so looking forward to connecting with you and embarking on this exciting and empowering journey of mental health and wellness together.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my family on the Sunshine Coast exploring trails, combing beaches, sharing delicious meals, and laughing around the fire. My ancestors are from Poland and Ukraine, and I respectfully hold space on the unceded territories of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish, and Shishalh nations.
It is an honour for me to listen, to hold space for your story, and to support your personal, complex, and ever-evolving journey. Book your free 20 min consultation today

connect in a way that’s meaningful to you. My practice is guided by principles that embrace an
embodied, client-centered approach to help facilitate change in a safe space.
With over 20 years’ experience working with individuals and families in a variety of areas,
including MCFD, harm reduction health services, and community outreach, I’ve had the
privilege of supporting diverse populations facing a wide range of challenges, such as trauma,
anxiety, depression, sexuality, relationship issues, and family separations. I am allied with the
2SLGBTQ+ community and work towards offering a safe and brave space to heal. In addition to
my private practice, I also have a contract with WorkSafeBC providing community outreach
services to injured workers.

Systems (IFS Informed), Compassionate Inquiry (Suicide Attention training), Neufeld Institute
(Parenting and attachment), Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. Starting in
February 2025, I will also embark in a three-year training journey to obtain certification as a
Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
On a personal note, I am a cisgender woman, and a single mother to an amazing teen. In my free

Hi, I am Sam Dubetz. I am Master’s of Social Work student at University of British Columbia and have over 20 years of experience in social service work. Much of my experience has been centred in working with members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and people impacted by the criminal legal system and mental health system. My client base has included people charged with murders, people confined to psychiatric units, and people living with chronic illnesses. It has also included people who worried that their issues were not grand enough to justify reaching out for support. The common ground among all these people were aspirations to accomplish, overcome, and reclaim. Whether the issues drawing you to counselling feel small or insurmountable, I am a firm believer that absolutely everyone is deserving of support.
I draw heavily upon Narrative Therapy which can help us make a deeper connection to our values, confidence, and resilience. My work is guided by a social justice minded and anti-oppressive framework, and I try to create a space that supports people in being the authors and experts in the stories of their own lives. My approach aims to assist people in recognizing and accessing their own internal motivations and strengths as the basis for accomplishing their goals.
On a personal note, I am passionate about cycling, skiing, and spending time outdoors. I am a pet caregiver and an avid cook of vegan and vegetarian food. I also appreciate time reading and playing video games old and new.
I believe it is important to acknowledge that I am a white settler who lives on the stolen homelands of the people of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ / Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I believe in working to dispel myths, promote equity, and fight injustice.
